| Adult patients with newly diagnosed, previously untreated primary ITP |
| Age of >18 y but <80 y |
| Platelet count of <20 × 109/L |
| Platelet count of >20 × 109/L but ≤50 × 109/L plus bleeding score of >8 (according to grading scale reported in Table 3) |
