The mean number of each cell type (epithelial cells, EMT cells, mesenchymal cells, and erythroid cells) in sections of mouse livers of different stages ranging from 11.5 dpc to adult age was determined from measurements of cell numbers in 10, random, 0.04-mm2 fields using an eyepiece grid in a Leica microscope at a magnification of × 200. In each stage, 3 cryostat sections of different areas were examined. The results are expressed as percentage (%) ± sem of each cell type related to the total cell number.
Cells are diffuse.
Cells are confined to perivascular spaces.
