Cumulative data collected from 16 (line 87) and 18 (line 315) separate heterozygous × heterozygous breeding pairs. All breeders were of fifth-generation backcross C57BL/6. Time of weaning was 4 to 5 weeks after birth.

Calculation of P values was based on the χ2 test for goodness of fit to compare distribution of genotypes with the Mendelian 1:2:1 ratio.
