Calcium transport by SERCA 2b and SERCA_PLIM into membrane vesicles prepared from untreated and ATRA-treated HL-60 cells was determined. Although total SERCA-dependent calcium uptake did not change significantly during differentiation, calcium transport into the SERCA_PLIM-associated calcium pool increased from 32% of total SERCA-dependent calcium accumulation to 60% after ATRA treatment.
