Murine marrow cells were cultured in agar in the presence of 3 to 10 ng/mL TPO with or without 500 U/mL IFN-α. Culture plates were stained for AChE after 5 days of culture, and MK colonies were enumerated by inverted microscopy. Results represent the mean (±SEM) number of MK colonies per 2 × 105 marrow cells plated in three separate experiments.
