If the ratio R0:C0is arbitrarily decreased to 1:4, a murine HSC frequency of 4/105 nucleated marrow cells also leads to simulated results that satisfy the criteria for best fit. The acceptable range for μ, the average rate of extinction of a differentiating clone, is 1 per 0.4 to 29 weeks, and the best-fit value is 1 per 6.9 weeks. Values for feline HSCs are from Abkowitz et al.1
