Primary (1°) mice were injected with 5 × 107 CB cells or 2 × 107 FL cells and their marrow then removed 24 hours later for assessment of the number of human CRU present by transplantation of the harvested cells into secondary (2°) mice. Total recoveries of human CRU per 1° mouse were calculated based on the assumption that 2 femurs and 2 tibias contain 25% of the total marrow content of a mouse.12

 Seeding efficiency values were calculated by dividing the total number of CRU injected per 1° mouse by the total number of CRU recovered per 1° mouse 24 hours later and multiplying by 100%.

 Values shown in brackets are the range defined by the mean ± SEM and have been pooled from data obtained in the same 8 experiments with CB and FL cells described in Table 1.
