The migration of Vav 1-null and wild-type primitive hematopoietic cells was measured in response to SDF-1, LPA, and S1P (see Figure 2 legend). Results are shown for enriched cells from bone marrow of wild-type and Vav 1-null mice. Results are the mean ± SEM of 4 or more separate experiments. The actual number of cells migrating in the 30-μL volume varied between 20 × 103 for the wild-type Kit- cells with SDF-1, LPA plus S1P, and 0.3 × 103 for the Vav 1-null Kit+ cells with no addition.
