CNBr cleavage of rαEC was performed as described in Materials and Methods. The fragments were analyzed on 16.5% Tris-Tricine SDS-PAGE (Bio-Rad) in the presence and absence of 0.1 mol/L DTT. Fragment sizes were determined by comparison with low-range SDS-PAGE standards from Bio-Rad. Sequence numbering is according to the full αE sequence (GenBank accession no. M58569).
