| Ages 1-17 y followed at participating centers | Initial presentation with ITP |
| Diagnosed with primary (acute or chronic) ITP | Previous splenectomy |
| Presents with a PC <20 × 109/L | Life- or organ-threatening hemorrhage (eg, proven/suspected ICH) |
| Patient/family and attending physician have decided on treatment with IVIG | Contraindication to IVIG (renal disease with creatinine ≥2× upper list of normal) or IVMP (diabetes mellitus, hypertension, peptic ulceration, sepsis, fever >38.5°C) Previous documented lack of response to IVIG DIC (defined by a fibrinogen level <1.0 g/dL and elevated D-dimer levels) Pregnancy |
