1α,25(OH)₂D₃ inhibits the antilisterial activity in IFN-γ–activated macrophages, single-cell analysis. BMDMs were cultured in the presence or absence of IFN-γ and 1α,25(OH)₂D₃ and infected with L monocytogenes (MOI = 0.1) for 1 hour and 3 hours. Cells were stained using Hemacolor and analyzed microscopically and the number of intracellular bacteria per infected cell was quantified by counting (original magnification × 400).
