Iron distribution in a 5 mm liver slice of a patient with HbE/β-thalassemia (29 y, HCV⁺) measured in a 1.5 T imager (Philips Intera Gyroscan^®, CHRCO Oakland, USA) with an average LIC of 18.6 mg/g_{dry wgt}(Ferriscan^®). The transverse relaxation R₂per volume element (voxel) and therefore the iron distribution ranges from 6.0 mg/g_{dry wgt}(red: R₂≥ 92 s⁻¹) to 30.5 mg/g_{dry wgt} (yellow: R₂ ≤ 280 s⁻¹).
