Therapeutic targeting of Asn and Gln. Asn is catalyzed by ASNS, the primary mediator of resistance to ASNase. ASNase hydrolyzes ASN into Asp and ammonia. Asn starvation by ASNase is a potential strategy of apoptosis induction in leukemia and lymphoma cells lacking ASNS and depend on the exogenous supply of Asn.
