Removal of PEG in PEGylated proteins administered either IV or subcutaneously. The PEGylated protein is likely removed through the mechanisms specific to the protein, assuming that this takes place in the liver. After degradation of the likely more labile protein part, the PEG molecule remains mostly intact because PEG metabolism is limited.
