DC-SIGN⁺ blood cells display a unique morphology.

(A) After the isolation procedure, DC-SIGN⁺ blood cells were allowed to recover for 2 hours at 37°C without addition of any cytokines. Note the veiledlike cytoplasmic extensions. Cytospins of DC-SIGN⁺ blood cells (B), monocytes (C), and immature DCs (D) were stained with hematoxylin-eosin to compare morphology. Inset shows a higher magnification.
