CD48 is heterogeneously expressed by Thy-1^lowSca-1⁺Lineage^-c-kit⁺ cells from young, old, cyclophosphamide/G-CSF-mobilized, and reconstituted mice. Cells were derived from bone marrow in each case except mobilized mice in which they were obtained from the spleen.
