HKH20 prevents lung damage in BALB/c mice infected intraperitoneally with S pyogenes. Light microscopy (left) and scanning electron microscopy (right) of representative mouse lung tissue sections are shown. Mice were injected intraperitoneally with (A) 200 μL PBS, (B) 5 × 106 CFU S pyogenes, (C) 5 × 106 CFU S pyogenes and 200 μg HKH20, and (D) 5 × 106 CFU S pyogenes and 275 μg GCP28.
