CCR6 is necessary to the intracellular HIV-inhibitory activity of hBD2. JKT-FT7 (CCR6low/no) and JKT-FT7 CCR6 GFP (CCR6+) cells were infected with HIV-luciferase pseudotyped with AMLV envelope. After infection, cells were incubated 3 days in complete RPMI, with or without hBD2 (20 μg/mL). Subsequently, cells were washed and lysed, and luciferase activity was measured. The percentage of inhibition was calculated in reference to luciferase activity as measured in untreated control infections.
