Expression of IL-7Rα, GABPα, and GFI1 mRNA in naive and EM_CD45RA+ IL-7Rα^high and IL-7Rα^low CD8⁺ T cells in the elderly. PBMCs from healthy elderly subjects were stained with antibodies to CD8, CD45RA, CCR7, and IL-7Rα and were sorted into naive, EM_CD45RA+ IL-7Rα^high, and IL-7Rα^low CD8⁺ T cells. Expression of IL-7Rα, GABPα, and GFI1 mRNA was measured in freshly isolated naive, EM_CD45RA+ IL-7Rα^high, and IL-7Rα^low CD8⁺ T cells using real-time PCR. Graphs show the mean ± SD expression (n = 5) of the indicated genes. Data were normalized to β-actin expression in individual samples. P values were obtained with the Mann-Whitney U test.
