Thrombin-enhanced Dengue virus binding to platelets. Platelets (5 × 105/mL) were incubated with (closed squares) or without (open squares) human α-thrombin (5.0 nM) for 10 minutes at 25°C and washed with PBS. Washed platelets were then incubated for 1 hour with virus and washed twice with PBS to remove unbound virus. RNA was isolated from the platelet-virus pellets and virus RNA quantified by qRT-PCR.
