Bone marrow regeneration after cyclophosphamide treatment. Eight mice had one leg denervated and the other sham operated; thereafter, they received cyclophosphamide at 200 mg/kg IP (day 0). From day 3 on, 2 mice were killed at each time point and cellularities compared between innervated and denervated tibia. The stippled belt depicts the 95% confidence interval for total tibial cell number in untreated mice. Digital image analysis of the methylcellulose dishes gave two sets of data in addition to the colony numbers (G/M-CFC/tibia), ie, (1) the total cellularity per dish when 5 × 104 cells had been cultured for 7 days (ie, G/M cytopoietic capacity per tibia in arbitrary units [au]) and (2) median colony size.
