Presence of galectin-3–binding sites on the surface of resting and exudated neutrophils. Exudated cells were compared with resting peripheral blood cells regarding ability to bind galectin-3. The cells (106) were paraformaldehyde fixed, incubated with FITC-labeled galectin-3 in the presence or absence of lactose (50 mmol/L), and analyzed by flow cytometry.
