LPS induces p38 MAPK, while simvastatin induces PKB phosphorylation. THP-1 cells were serum-starved overnight and subsequently cultured in the presence of LPS (200 ng/mL) for up to 8 hours (C) or simvastatin (10 μM) for up to 48 hours (A). (B) LY294002 was added 1 hour before simvastatin. Cells were lysed by adding hot sample buffer. Cell lysates were assayed for (phospho-) p38 MAPK and (phospho-) PKB content.
