Characterization of retrovirally transfected MSCs. (A) Flow cytometric analysis of cell-surface markers on untransfected MSCs (MSC^wt), MSCs transfected to express nontargeting control RNAi (MSC^contr), and MSCs expressing RNAi for galectin-1 (MSC^G1▾). The immunophenotype of MSC^G1▾ was not altered compared with MSC^wt or MSC^contr. (B) Adipogenic and osteogenic differentiation of MSC^wt, MSC^contr, and MSC^G1▾. MSC^G1▾ showed normal differentiation into adipocytes and osteoblasts.
