Myeloid colonies are predominantly induced by SCF combined with eotaxin. Three types of colonies were induced with SCF and/or eotaxin: CFU-E, CFU-MIX (containing cells of varying size, granulation, and nuclear shape/size, with and without RBCs) and CFU-M. Colony type was confirmed by preparing cytospun preparations from individual colonies with distinct morphological characteristics.
