Effect of the PKC inhibitor BIM on the respiratory burst of neutrophils induced by PMA and opsonized zymosan. The reaction mixture contained 10⁶ neutrophils/mL and where indicated 10⁻⁵ mol/L luminol, 10⁻⁴ mol/L lucigenin, 100 ng/mL PMA, 1 mg/mL opsonized zymosan, and 10⁻⁶ mol/L BIM in a standard salt solution (4 × 10⁻³ mol/L sodium phosphate buffer pH 7.4, 0.128 mol/L NaCl, 1.2 × 10⁻²mol/L KCl, 10⁻³ mol/L CaCl₂, 2 × 10⁻³ mol/L MgCl₂, 2 × 10⁻³mol/L glucose) at a final volume of 0.5 mL. The results are the mean + SEM of four experiments.
