Effect of in vivo GM-CSF therapy on PMN LT synthesis in AIDS subjects. PMN were isolated on day 1, day 4, and day 8 of the study protocol as described in Materials and Methods and plated at 1 × 10⁶/mL in DMEM. Maximal LTB₄release was determined after stimulation with A23187 (10 μmol/L) for 30 minutes at 37°C. Medium was analyzed for LTB₄ by EIA, and the value obtained for HIV-infected subjects was expressed as a percent of the value observed for AIDS subjects (LTB₄90.6 ± 14.4, pg/10⁶ cells) on day 1. n = 9, *P= .05.
