Relative HSC repopulating abilities of CXB RI lines 1 to 12.
Four million donor cells (CXB RI lines) plus 2 million standard competitor cells (CByB6F1) were given to each NK cell–depleted, lethally irradiated CByB6F1 recipient, all of the same gender. Donor RU concentrations were calculated as described in “Materials and methods” and were multiplied by total BMCs per donor, assuming that 2 tibias and 2 femurs contain 25% of the total BMCs, to compute total RUs per mouse. Because CXB-12 percentages were 98% and 96%, so high that an error of a few percentage points greatly alters RU numbers, the data from the 3 × 106 CXB-12:107 F1 ratio in Table 1 were considered more accurate and used in this Figure. Data are presented as means, with standard error bars from 2 donors tested separately for each CXB RI line.
