IAP is an adhesion receptor on SS RBCs for immobilized TSP under flow conditions.

Pre-incubation (30 minutes) of SS RBCs with increasing concentrations of 1F7 inhibited basal adhesion of SS RBCs to immobilized TSP under flow conditions (rate, 1 mL/min; shear, 1 dyne/cm²) by approximately 50% (n = 11) (diamonds) in a dose-dependent manner. Identical incubation with the anti-IAP mAb 2D3 had no effect on adhesion (n = 3) (circles). The 100% adhesion represents an average of 212 cells/mm² (±SD). An isotype-matched control antibody had no effect on SS RBC adhesion to TSP at any of the studied concentrations (data not shown).
