Adhesion of α_Mβ₂-expressing 293 cells to Cyr61.

(A) ⁵¹Cr-labeled α_Mβ₂-expressing or mock-transfected cells were added to microtiter wells coated with 1 μg/mL Cyr61. Cell adhesion proceeded for 30 minutes at 37°C, followed by 3 washes to remove nonadherent cells. The adherent cells were solubilized with 2% sodium dodecyl sulfate, and ⁵¹Cr radioactivity was quantified in a β counter. Data are expressed as a percentage of added cells. (B) ⁵¹Cr-labeled α_Mβ₂-expressing 293 cells were incubated with the indicated concentrations of anti-α_M monoclonal antibodies for 15 minutes at 22°C and allowed to adhere to wells coated with 1 μg/mL Cyr61. Data shown are percentages of maximal cell adhesion in a control sample without the antibodies.
