Analysis of HIV-1 cellular viral load in different CD4 T-cell populations.

HIV-1 DNA and RNA viral load was determined in sorted CD4⁺CCR7⁻ and CD4⁺CCR7⁺ T-cell populations isolated from patients with primary HIV-1 infection. HIV-1 DNA was determined in 8 patients and HIV-1 RNA in 6 patients. Data are expressed as copies (log₁₀) of HIV-1 DNA and RNA per 10⁶CD4⁺CCR7⁻ and CD4⁺CCR7⁺ cells. The purity of the sorted populations was higher than 97%. Determination of HIV-1 DNA and RNA was performed as previously described.21
