It can be seen that all deaths (n = 7) occurred in category 1 patients, namely, patients with demonstrable left ventricular dysfunction during the period of observation. (C) Kaplan-Meier estimates of survival are shown in 34 category 1 patients subdivided on the basis of compliance with DFO intensification therapy. All deaths (n = 7) occurred in patients who did not sustain compliance with DFO (P < .0001, log rank test).
