Liver tissue iron stores in hea mice are overloaded compared with normal littermates. Livers from 1-week-old hea and normal littermates were isolated and nonheme tissue iron was measured. Tissue iron levels in livers from hea mice were 400% higher than in normal littermates. Error bars indicate SEM.
