Patients receiving transplants in first remission fared significantly better than those undergoing HSCT at other times (3-year posttransplantation EFS, 64.4% versus 22.2%, P = .004). There was no statistically appreciable difference in outcome between patients receiving cord blood or non–cord blood in first remission.
