Transport of cyclic nucleotides in platelet membranes. Platelet membrane vesicles (100 μg protein) were incubated with [3H]cGMP (left panel) or [3H]cAMP (right panel) (4 μM) in the presence of 4 mM ATP (▴) or 4 mM 5′-AMP (♦), and the vesicle-associated radioactivity was determined as described in “Patients, materials, and methods” (mean values ± SD, n = 3). The rate of net ATP-dependent transport (▪) was calculated by subtracting transport in the presence of 5′-AMP as a blank from transport in the presence of ATP.
