Protein C, F1 + 2, APC, and α1-AT levels in 32 patients with severe sepsis. Plasma levels of protein C (PC), F1 + 2, APC, and α1-AT were measured in plasma as described in “Patients and methods.” The levels of these markers in the patients are expressed relative to normal pooled plasma (the green line indicates 100% of normal pooled plasma). The normal pooled plasma contains plasma pooled from 11 healthy volunteers. Nonsurviving patients are marked with an asterisk (^*).
