Anti-third-party CTLs do not affect the engraftment of normal allogeneic T cells. On day 2 or 3 following BMT from a SCID donor, chimeric mice received 100 × 106 PBMCs from patients with B-CLL (A-B) or healthy donors (C-D). A week later, half of the mice were infused with 10 × 106 fully allogeneic anti-third-party CTLs (B,D). Finally, peritoneal lavage from each individual mouse was tested following another week for the presence of PBMCs by FACS analysis. A representative experiment is shown. Numbers in graphs represent the percent of cells in the upper-right quadrant (double positive cells).
