Abstract
The number of myeloid and erythroid cells in marrow, their turnover times and rates of production have been estimated from consideration of mitotic activities and related data. An approximation to the chronology of development in the steady state with constant population is presented and its implications are discussed. Estimates of myeloid and erythroid balance in man are compared with similarly derived values for the dog and rat.
