Abstract
The carbohydrate intermediates of erythrocytes were studied before and after incubation for 6 hours at 37 C. A comparison was made between a case of NSHA with G-6-PD deficiency, his mother, a Caucasian and a Negro with G-6-PD deficiency (so-called primaquine sensitivity), and a normal case.
An abnormality of ATP metabolism manifested by a distinct fall in concentration of ATP after incubation was found in the case of NSHA but not in the other cases. This is another demonstration of the heterogeneity of the cases of deficiency of G-6-PD.
