Abstract
Using the Boyden test for chemotaxis, it was possible to show that cyclic-3',5'-AMP attracts polymorphonuclear leukocytes. Although this effect is definite, casein has a more potent effect. Since cyclic AMP is synthesized by bacteria, and is a heat stable molecule of small molecular weight, it is presumed to be one of the components in bacteria capable of producing positive chemotaxis in leukocytes.
