Megakaryocytopoiesis was evaluated in genetically anemic mice of the W/Wv genotype and was found to be abnormal. Concentration and size of blood platelets were normal. Megakaryocytes were decreased in number in tibial marrow and spleen, and the size of mature megakaryocytes was increased.
