Abstract
By the use of specifically absorbed Coombs sera, it has been possible to show that cell sensitization in acquired hemolytic disease may be due either to γ-globulin or to non-γ-globulin serum components. The latter may be either warm reacting or cold reacting (cold agglutinin).
In certain instances acquired hemolytic disease is associated with autoimmunization. In other instances, it is possible that nonspecific adsorptive processes are involved, though definitive evidence for this is lacking.
