Abstract
Streptococci and staphylococci, when added to platelet-rich plasma, serum, and defibrinated blood of the dog, are quickly enmeshed by large clumps of platelets. The factor responsible for this reaction is present in the plasma. It is heat-labile, is inactivated by adsorption with Kieselguhr and bacteria, and is partially inactivated by shaking. The activity of this factor is depressed in the presence of sodium citrate.
