Abstract
Reticuloendothelial phagocytic function was studied in a group of patients with leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma utilizing I131-aggregated human serum albumin. The majority of patients with acute leukemia were found to have diminished RES phagocytosis. Increased RES phagocytosis was demonstrated in some patients and appeared to be related to accelerated erythrocyte destruction. Chemotherapy per se had little demonstrable effect on RES phagocytic function.
