Confocal microscopy image (Z stack) of tunneling nanotube networks between a B-cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia (BCP-ALL) cell labeled with 1,1′-dioctadecyl-3,3,3′,3′-tetramethylindocarbocyanine perchlorate and human mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) labeled with 3,3′-dioctadecyloxacarbocyanine. These dyes stain lipophilic structures within cells. This image visualizes the bidirectional exchange of lipophilic structures between BCP-ALL cells and MSCs via tunneling nanotubes.
